Reasons for delays in marriage

I continue my analysis of some horoscopes showing causes for delays or denial of marriage.

Example:4:--The placement of the lord of the lagna in the 7^th house will either deny marriage or will create aversion to marriage and will give unhappiness in this regard. The lord of birth lagna (Leo) is in 7^thhouse. So he had strong aversion to marriage. He declined to marry for 5 years. He approached an enlightened and well-educated Swamiji to give him Sanyasa deeksha (renunciation of worldly and family wife). Swamiji examined his horoscope and advised strongly to get married. Moon is in lagnam and Jupiter is in 7^th house is strong Gaja-kesari yoga, connecting birth & Kalthra houses. Also Sun, Mercury conjunction is Budha-Adhitya yoga in kalathra (7^th house).Due to these two strong yogas, he got married late, overcoming all hindrances. Even now he expresses his keen desire to take the Sanyasa-deeksha and forsake worldly life, due to malefic effect of lagna-lord, Sun, in 7^th house.

Example:5 :-The 7^th house (Virgo) is aspected by two malefic planets, Mars & Saturn. Jupiter is the lord of 1^st,and 10^th houses (Kendra -adhipathya dosha) is malefic and stays in 7^th house. So she became a widow within a few months after her marriage, during her teenage.

Example :6 :-This Nava-amsa chart has exchange (Parivarthana) of houses of Venus and Mars. So she is an immoral woman. She is adulterous and indulges in incestuous sexual intercourse.

Reasons for delays in marriage

Here I explain why marriages are broken, or separated or divorced etc. There are no universal remedies. The necessary remedies depend on particular birth chart. Hereunder I give some more examples :

Example: 2 :- Sukra in 3^rd house (upachaya) and is conjunct with two malefics Rahu and Gulika; Moon and Saturn are in mutually 7^thhouses; Saturn aspects Venus (vivaha-kaaraka); these malefic factors caused delay in her marriage. She was married late, during her 34^thyear.

Example: 3 :- Venus (significator of husband) is in 12^th (Vyaya) & is aspected by Saturn (3^rd). Also 7^th house is aspected by Saturm (10^th).. Moon, Mars and Saturn are conjunct in 10^th house. She is deserted by her husband. After separation, she indulges in illicit sexual relations with other men.

Timing of Marriage | Delays and Remedies

Prediction of marriage and delays has to be seen from effect on the factors associated with 7th house.  An attempt is made in this article to predict marriage and to provide remedies for delays. It is not an attempt to predict horoscope compatibility as it is covered in other articles.

The main factors that are important in a horoscope are as follows:

7th house in the horoscope, 7th house lord and its placement in the kundali

Venus for male birth and Jupiter for female birth

2nd house & its lord because it denotes family

Lack of Marriage vs. Delay

As with other houses in the horoscope, any malefic influence on these factors will indicate delay or lack of marriage. A delay should be predicted by a malefic influence followed by a beneficial planetary influence. There is no age for marriage. There are some who get married late in life and there are some who never get married. Lack of marriage is predicted by a strong malefic influence on all the factors in the horoscope. Rahu’s influence along with other beneficial influence indicated marriage, but an unconventional one.

Timing of marriage

Assuming that there is some favourable influence that does not deny marriage in a kundali, lets try to  put down rules for marriage To predict marriage using vimshottari dasha alone, consider the ruling mahadasha and antardasha lords. If these are placed 6/8 or 2/12 from each other in a kundali, it is an unfavourable combination and adverse to all the factors that are falling under their influence. Therefore, these planets, if associated with 7th house, will deny marriage.

Lets tabulate factors that do predict marriage:

1. If these are Venus, Jupiter, 7th house lord or beneficial planets located in or having drishti on 7th house in rashi chart or navamsha chart, the marriage is directly predicted. If these dashas are not running at a given time, it become a little tricky and question arises if marriage is not possible at the given time or is predicted through some other means. This is when we need to bring other factors in.
2. Rahu is putrakaraka, if associated by location or drishti with 5th house. Rahu is a malefic planet, but its influence does help in marriage. Ongoing Rahu dasha can help in marriage.
3. Going by putrakaraka logic, marriage should be predicted by 5th (and 9th) house also.
4. Jupiter and ascendant lord’s transit over trikonas from 7th house in rashi and navamsha can be used to predict marriage.
5. Lagna lord and 7th lord if are in conjunction in transit – if they are disposed favourably in a kundali and are not temporal or natural enemies.

If these factors are all negative, then marriage is unlikely at that time. This is an indication of delay in marriage.

Please refer to the example kundali here. Venus is 7th lord in this horoscope. It therefore signifactor of marriage from two angles. It is located 7th from a strong Moon in a friend’s house. Therefore, marriage is not denied.  However, this horoscope has effect of Manglik dosha on the marriage factors an angle – it is 4th from Moon. Mars is in Libra and 12th house and is an exception to manglik dosha, but it is still 4th from moon. It aspects both 7th from lagna and 7th from Moon in the kundali. Mars has an additional blemish of being 6th house lord in this kundali.

Lets look at the timing aspect here:

• As of the time of writing the article, Jupiter is transiting in Gemini and will not be able to transit either trine from 7th house in rashi chart (Virgo or Capricorn) or Navamsha chart (Capricorn or Taurus) in near future. The next transit for Jupiter in Cancer starts on 19th June 2014. Its effect is out of question then.
• Lagna lord is also the 6th lord and its transit will also not be useful.
• Looking at the Vimshottari dasha, the person is currently running Venus/Moon, which will get over soon and Venus/Mars will start after that.
• It will not be possible to get the person married in Venus/Mars due to the issues mentioned above.
• Only when Venus/Mars gets over and Venus/Rahu starts is when there is a possibility of this person getting married. Rahu is in 7th house and will affect marriage directly also.

It is interesting to note that these very factors that cause delay prior to marriage can cause rift between husband and wife post marriage. These may lead to separation and divorce if there are indications of multiple marriages in a horoscope. These should also be carefully judged in a horoscope during the process of horoscope matching. More of that in a later post.

Remedies to take care of delays:

An astrologer usually prescribes the following for delays causing marriage:

1. Worship Lord Krishna. His worship helps not just for marriage but for progeny also.
2. Stone of Jupiter – pukhraj or topaz to be worn. It should be a clear yellow stone of approx 4-5 carats and needs to be cast in a gold ring. It needs to be worn in the right index finger. Usual rituals of wearing a gemstone need to be followed. This remedy is relevant for women and not for men.
3. Goddess Parvati got married to Lord Shiva after an arduous tapasya on the day of Mahashivratri. Both Shiva and Parvati are hence karakas of marriage. Their worship is very important. Fasting and praying to Shiva on Mondays helps. This remedy is again relevant for women.

Position, movement, aspects, dasha, antar dasha, Gochar (transit) play a important role in determining the marriage time of a person. Star movement,placement and effection with other planets and house depicts when the marriage of the girl/wife will take place. It depicts when the person will get married, wether there will be any hurdles, wether there is any sign of divorce, wether there is any sign of delayed in marriage. In this section we will discuss why the person marriage gets delayed ? why person/families keep on searching for suitable match, but still there is no suitable match found. Why all of the sudden person gets engaged and get married and no hassles comes in the ways of getting married. For marriage purposes, following houses has significance

1. Seventh house represents the house of partner. If the lord of seventh house is situated in good house and seventh house or lord of seventh house is seen by Jupiter. Then the person marriage happens very easily. If the lord of seventh house is placed in sixth,eight or twelth house and and seventh house or lord of seventh house is being aspected by sun,saturn,rahu or ketu, then definitely problem or delay in marriage comes. If the lord of seventh house is placed in house and his degree is from 0 to 3 or from 27to 30. Then the power of seventh house totally declines. This also leads to delay in marriage.

2. Second house and Fourth house - These two house represents family life and comforts obtained from family respectively. If fourth house is being aspected by cruel stars like ( rahu, keu, saturn, mars and sun ), then chances of delay, not getting much comforts from marriage, not getting good treatment in laws house is depicted.

The position of the lord of the lagna in the 7^th house can either deny marriage or can create aversion to marriage in the person and may cause unhappiness to the family members and displeasure in the marriage and family life. (8) If Rahu is in the 7^th house with two malefics, the marriage is obstructed.Even retrograde planets like Jupiter, Venus and Mercury in 7^th house can cause delays or obstacles in the marriage. Here under I explain some birth charts :

Example: 1 This is the birth chart of world famous spiritual Guru, His Holiness. Bhagavan Sri Satya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi, in India. Venus lord of 7^th house and Vivaha-kaarka is in birth lagnam and is combusted (dagdha yoga); Venus is conjunct with Satrun (malefic); the lord of 7^th house from Indu-lagna is Jupiter and is in 8^th house from Moon. Saturn also was combusted. So he had no vivaha- yoga.He was never married and stayed as a Sanyasi (Ascetic).

CAUSES FOR DELAYS IN MARRIAGES

“Marriages are made in heaven” is an old dictum and many believe it. But due to changed times, mixing of various culture, moral values and changes in human outlook and attitudes, marriages also have changed. Today (July—25—2008) I explain why marriages are broken, or separated or divorced etc. There are no universal remedies. The necessary remedies depend on particular birth chart and I can suggest the suitable remedies if a person consults me; my e-mail is : pandit@jothishi.com.

Part : 1.

Maladies pertaining to marriages may be classified into the following cateagories :

1) Delay or denial of marriage

2) Absence of conjugal bliss.

3) Loss of life partner

4) Seperation or divorce.

We have to consider the following aspects in the birth chart of the person and find the causes.

(1) If the Sun and Moon stay in the sign and constellation of Saturn the marriage is delayed.
(2) If Saturn conjuncts with Venus or Rahu or Mercury in 7th house marriage gets delayed appreciably.
(3) If both Sun and Moon stay in the navamsa of Saturn, and Venus has also the influence of Saturn in Navamsa, there will be many obstructions to have marriage.
(4) If the lagna and the 7th house or their lords or Venus are positioned between Saturn and Sun, marriage will be delayed.
(5) If the Sun and Saturn are adversely posited in the lagna or the 7th house or vice versa, the marriage will be delayed for many years; marriage may be denied if both planets Sun and Saturn are at in mutually 7th house . Same type of delay occurs if Saturn and Moon are conjunct or stay in mutually 7th houses. Then the chance for absolute denial of marriage is less.
(6) Sun and Moon are enemies of Venus. If Venus occupies any of the sign of Cancer or Leo and that is flanked on both sides by the Sun and the Moon, the marriage will have many obstructios. If Venus is in Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Libra and Aquarius except Libra and closely conjunct with malefic (within 5* on either side), there will be severe problems in the settlement of marriage.
